The English Archery Federation (EAF) is a body set up by the five English Regions within The Grand National Archery Society (GNAS) to select and manage teams for International events where it is appropriate for England (as opposed to Great Britain) to participate.
The Regions also require EAF to run National tournaments and administer such English Awards deemed appropriate (e.g. English Crosses)
Entry forms for the major EAF tournaments are also downloadable from this site.
Management of EAF is in the hands of elected representatives from each region and is independent of GNAS. Recognising GNAS as the UK Governing Body for the sport, where appropriate EAF will work in conjunction with GNAS and their Director for England has a standing invitation to attend all EAF Committee meetings.
Fact and Rumour – there is a difference!
So it is with the world of
EAF archery actions.
The inclusion of Archery as a
sport in the next (2010) Commonwealth Games and the gaining of funding to
develop and train a contingent of Compound archers for participation is in the
‘out of the ordinary’ category and is getting noticed. Unfortunately some
members of the committee have heard several comments that all our attention is
on this and that our more ‘routine and normal’ events and Recurves are
suffering.
This is definitely not the
case and, if we haven’t done so already, we wish to make this very clear
before ‘some comments’ become rumour and rumour becomes rife.
All of our ‘normal’
activities are still very much alive and are being managed by the whole of the
main Committee – CG activity is in the hands of a dedicated sub-committee.
Funding and training for
Recurve archers is already in place, and has been for many years, through the
World Class Performance Plan – the new development is the award of funding for
Compound archers via Sport England.
When it comes to the CG event
the full English team will consist of Recurve and Compound archers, and the
Compound programme will be co-ordinated and integrated with that for Recurves at
appropriate times.
